Socialist Action organizes Rally and Voters’ clinic for former homeless in Ward 22.

Supporters of Ward 22 Socialist Action Candidate Corey David insist that formerly homeless folks have a right to vote

A rally and voters’ clinic was held at the entrance of 2035 Kennedy Road (Kennedy and Hwy. 401) in Scarborough, on Saturday, January 9, at 11 a.m. About 300 formerly homeless people have been housed by the City of Toronto in the Delta Hotel for the past four months. (The City housing contract with the hotel expires April 2021.)

“It appears that city election officials have made no effort to inform eligible voters living at the Delta that they are entitled to vote in the January 15 by-election. This is patently discriminatory”, states Corey David, the Socialist Action candidate in the Scarborough-Agincourt by-election

“Adult citizens, regardless their economic situation, housing status, gender, ethnicity, race or sexual orientation deserve respect. They have the right to vote and the right to be informed. That is what my campaign will help to facilitate on Saturday morning by conducting a Voters’ Clinic at the entrance to the hotel.”
In order to vote, a resident over 18 years of age must make a VERBAL DECLARATION that Ward 22 has been their PRIMARY PLACE OF RESIDENCE for the past 5 WEEKS. No evidence is required beyond that. No identification, or piece of postal mail is necessary.
