International Women’s Day was celebrated at OISE U of Toronto on March 2, 2024. Socialist Action displayed placards designed by Julius, and distributed leaflets to mark the occasion. Two signs were put to use at a Palestine rally on Sunday at the US Consulate.
On the way home, a driver was honking and stopped beside me. He was very emotional to see those placards because he moved to Toronto from Gaza. I gave him a leaflet and my own Palestine button. He thought I was from Gaza. I said we are all Palestinian now, part of the global solidarity movement demanding Ceasefire, an end to arms shipments to Israel, and the provision of emergency humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and the West Bank.
I went to a halal meat shop afterwards. People were looking at the placards and sharing their solidarity with pain and anger.
In the same market a health store owner told me to keep up our fight, not to stop. “Israel became insane now”, he said. I know that person is Jewish. In truth, the oppression of the Palestinian people started over 75 years ago, even before the Nakbah that established the Zionist state. Attached are photos taken on Saturday at OISE.
