Socialist Action joined hundreds of pro-Palestinian marchers on March 24 in Toronto to demand an immediate and permanent Zionist ceasefire, emergency massive humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, an end to the sale and purchase of all goods/services to and from Israel, and an end to the Occupation of Palestine.
For over an hour, Toronto police blocked the march that was headed south on Yonge Street, from St. Clair Ave. After the arrest of two individuals, one allegedly for possessing a concealed weapon, and the other allegedly for hate speech and assault directed at demonstrators, the march was allowed to proceed towards Bloor Street.
Among other slogans, the crowd chanted “Biden, Trudeau, what do you say? How many kids did you kill today?” and “From the Sea to the River, Palestine will live forever!” With the help of a portable sound system, speakers criticized the watered-down motion approved in Parliament on March 18 which neither terminates existing arms approvals and shipments to Israel, nor recognizes the Palestinian state.
Many participants bought and wore the SA button “End the Occupation – Free Palestine”. Thanks to Rubina Chowdhury for the photos below.
