The Toronto Socialist Action public forum held at the OPSEU Membership Center on Wellesley St. E., March 22, was a resounding success. Renowned author and co-founder of the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute, Yves Engler, gave an excellent presentation on the state attack against pro-Palestinian free speech across the Canadian state. Yves provided an update on the horrific genocide recently renewed by Israel in Gaza. He highlighted one of the roots of Zionism in Protestant theologians of the 19th century in the west, and more recently based in the quest by the U.S. and its imperial allies to control the vast oil wealth across the Middle East. The Q&A that followed was lively and interesting, involving some ten audience members.
Close to sixty people, most in-person, with a few online, attended the event. Many more will see the recording of it on the SA YouTube channel. Brisk literature sales showed a high demand for Yves’ many books on foreign policy, along with SA publications on Palestine.
The plastic container at the room entrance collected around $250 for the Yves Engler Defense Fund. 37 people signed-in to keep in touch with SA. Thanks to Rubina for her fine photos.
