SA at IWD in Toronto on March 7

Socialist Action had a successful display table at OISE U of Toronto and a very visible presence in the Toronto International Women’s Day parade on March 7, 2026.
The opening rally packed OISE auditorium, but the content of the speeches on the main stage was mainly a mild, reformist confection.  Toronto’s pro-cop mayor, Olivia Chow, attracted mainstream media attention, aided by ex-mayor John Tory’s announcement that he will not run this year.  Hopefully, socialists will field a candidate who fights for massive investment in housing and health care to be funded by taxing big banks, giant landlords and corporate retail chains.
SA members distributed hundreds of leaflets, including statements on the 115th anniversary of IWD, Imperialist Hands Off Iran, Venezuela and Cuba, and urging Victory to the Women of Palestine against the Zionist genocide.  Numerous feminists visited the SA table, signed up for information about the party, and bought over one hundred dollars in books, booklets, buttons and copies of The Red Review magazine.  A rally of hundreds later gathered across from the U.S. Consulate on University Ave. to protest the US-Zionist bombardment of Iran.
