The Canadian Foreign Policy Institute hosted a public meeting in Toronto on August 31 featuring Yves Engler, the socialist author and candidate for federal NDP leader.
It was a resounding success.
It ended with a standing ovation for Yves by the crowd of about fifty persons at Trinity-St. Paul’s Church on Bloor St. West.
Also speaking was Robert Masoud, a Palestinian-Canadian and founder of Beit Zatoun, a former public events open space in Toronto’s Mirvish Village, and still a seller of Palestinian products such as olive oil and keffiyeh.
Many folks asked pertinent questions, all of which were handled very well by Yves and Robert, with Elizabeth Byce running the meeting very smoothly as the chairperson. The sound system was decent. Some photos I took are attached below.
Several people signed up to be elect-Yves campaign volunteers. A number of them bought books authored by Yves, which he dutifully autographed.
Over the coming week, the socialist candidate will be speaking in cities and towns across southern Ontario. If you have an idea for a local campaign forum or rally, please call: 647-986-1917.
