Up to one thousand people gathered at Front and Bay streets in Toronto on October 15 to express outrage at the criminal bombardment by the Zionist state of a hospital and tent encampment in Gaza. Dozens of refugees and patients were burned alive in this savage assault from the sky.
At the same time, Palestinian resistance to Occupation and Genocide continues. Armed drones sent by Hezbollah evaded the Iron Dome and inflicted serious casualties and destruction on an Israel Occupation Forces base in the coastal north. Democratic Party U.S. President Joe Biden is sending more weaponry, even American soldiers to aid the Benjamin Netanyahu neo-Nazi regime.
The Toronto protest denounced the complicity with genocide by the Justin Trudeau Liberal government and demanded an immediate end to arms sales and a halt to investment in the Apartheid colonial-settler state.
Socialist Action participated in the Tuesday early evening action near Union Station where over 60 “Free Palestine” buttons, and several copies of The Red Review monthly magazine were purchased. SA calls for a reversal of the federal government’s designation of the pro-Palestinian campaign group Samidoun as “terrorist.” The real terrorist is the Zionist state, with which Ottawa is allied, and which has reduced most of Gaza to rubble, murdering tens of thousands of Palestinians in the process. The vile onslaught is now extended to Lebanon where 1.2 million people are displaced. The Toronto crowd chanted: “Justin Trudeau you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide.”
“Hands Off the Middle East” is the chief slogan for actions to occur in Toronto outside the U.S. Consulate on Sunday, October 20 at 4 p.m. (please arrive at 3 p.m.), and in cities around the world.
