The crowd at Dundas Square chanted “No two-state solution. Intifada revolution!”
A speaker from Red Nation linked the Palestinian struggle for land and self-determination to Indigenous peoples’ demands for restitution across Turtle Island (a.k.a. North America).
This was the call issued by the Palestine Youth Movement: “ALL OUT FOR LAND DAY! As we enter the sixth month of the Zionist genocide against the Palestinian people of Gaza, we invite everyone to march with us this Saturday, March 30 at Yonge and Dundas Square at 2 p.m. to commemorate Land Day.
On this day, we remember and honour the 6 Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces on March 30, 1976, after uniting in protest against the theft of their lands. A day which has since become known as Land Day and is now commemorated each year to mobilize against further theft of Palestinian land and to re-assert the unequivocal right of return for Palestinians to their lands.”
Socialist Action members distributed many leaflets, including one titled “Smash Zionist Genocide and Apartheid” and one promoting International Workers’ Day that will be marked with a rally at Toronto City Hall Square on May 4. The crowd purchased 96 copies of the SA button inscribed with the slogan “End the Occupation. Free Palestine.”
