Five Indigenous First Nations formed an historic alliance to protect their lands and waters in the face of mounting concerns about encroachment on their territories by mining exploration companies who have been enabled by the Ontario Premier Doug Ford government. On July 5, 2023 over one hundred people, including members of Socialist Action, joined the Land Defense Alliance for a rally on the east side of Queen’s Park, to demand respect for Indigenous rights.
Organizers announced plans for a March for The Land on September 27, 12 noon, to call on the Conservative government to end unwanted mining activity on their Territories.
