Che Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade Promotion

The Ernesto Che Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade is returning to Cuba!
Let’s go to Cuba for adventure, volunteering and fun!

Two options to travel to Cuba:
>> 27th Che Guevara Brigade – November 20 – December 4, 2021
>> 28th Che Guevara Brigade – April 27 – May 10, 2022

Cuba is famous for many things around the world, from its exemplary healthcare and education systems to Cuban salsa dancing and music. While many people from Canada travel to Cuba to enjoy the extraordinary beaches, resorts and sun, there is much more to experience on this dynamic island – and with the Ernesto Che Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade!

The Che Guevara Brigade is a unique opportunity to get to know Cuba through people-to-people solidarity and on the ground experiences. There is no better way to get to know the Cuban people than working alongside them, sharing meals and leisure time, and there is no better way to learn about the Cuban Revolution than by seeing its accomplishments first hand! The Brigade’s vibrant program also includes participating in cultural activities, meeting community organizations, visiting health and educational institutions, visiting historical sites, attending workshops and of course visiting the beach!

The Fall 2021 Che Brigade is coming up fast!
Join the Che Guevara Brigade in Cuba November 20 to December 4, 2021!  We will spend 10 days of our trip in Havana province, just outside of Havana city, the remaining 4 days in Varadero, Matanzas province, and we will also have a day trip to Viñales, in the very scenic province of Pinar del Río!

Alongside volunteering, some highlights of our program include:
> Visiting a neighbourhood undergoing the new initiative to improve quality of life in underdeveloped areas, addressing social, construction and service issues.
> Meeting with organizations including CENESEX, Cuba’s National Centre for Sex Education, which is the driving force of the LGBTQ movement in Cuba.
> Visiting museums and historical sites, including the National Museum of the Literacy Campaign, to learn the inspiring history of how Cubans eliminated illiteracy in Cuba in 1961.
> Learning how Cuba developed its Covid-19 vaccines at a Cuban oncology medical center.
> Salsa lessons!

* Please note, the Fall 2021 dates were recently changed to the above to align with the recent Cuban Ministry of Tourism announcement and planned relaxation of some Covid-19 measures, which can be read at https://www.canadiannetworkoncuba.ca/index.php/news-and-events/cuba-news-and-events/940-cuba-reopens-to-tourism-

This Volunteer Work Brigade is open to everyone of all physical abilities and ages. We have had Brigadistas from 7 to 86 years old! We are a brigade from Canada but we welcome travelers joining from other countries too.
