Report, photos and videos from the Palestine solidarity rally in Toronto on Saturday, May 15

by Barry Weisleder

Dear comrades,
On Saturday, May 15, the Greater Toronto BDS Coalition hosted a cross-country online Day of Action for Palestine rally.  It was initiated by Socialist Action, in partnership with many allies.  So far, over 435 people have watched the online rally, either live, or subsequently on the SA YouTube channel.
Saturday evening, against a backdrop of protests around the world against the Zionist campaign of terror and murder, close to 10,000 people rallied at Toronto City Hall Square to demand Freedom for Palestine.
Socialist Action participated very visibly with a banner proclaiming “Smash Israeli Apartheid”, numerous SA flags and a well stocked SA literature table.  Revenue from sales of “End the Occupation” buttons, and socialist literature exceeded $128.  One person applied to join SA on the spot.  Fifteen others signed up for more information.
In Saint John, New Brunswick, SA leading member Chris W. spoke to a crowd of 150+.  Subsequently, one person who attended has asked to join SA.

The global movement of solidarity with the beleaguered people of Palestine continues to grow.  We are committed to do all we can to advance it, focusing on demands that our own imperialist rulers stop aid and trade with the Zionist state, the Frankenstein monster in the Middle East that they created more than 73 years ago, and that they sustain to this day.
Reports and pix from other cities will be shared as they become available.
the struggle continues,
Barry
P.S. Thanks to Julius for the great photos and videos below.
